Logic, Emotion, Intuition

“In the grand dance of life, who leads? Is it the mind with its precise steps, the heart with its passionate swings, or the soul with its silent knowing? True mastery is found in the balance of the three.”
– The philosopher’s rhyme

In today’s fast-paced world, we are constantly bombarded with information. From an early age, we are taught what to think: the “right” answers to pass tests, the socially accepted beliefs, and the opinions that align with popular culture. But rarely are we taught how to think—how to navigate the complex terrain of life by balancing logic, emotion, and intuition to make truly conscious choices. This is where as an IPEC (Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching) trained COR.E Dynamics Specialist (coach) I teach holographic thinking that comes into play in people’s lives.

The Problem with Being Told “What to Think”

When we are only told what to think, we rely on external validation for our decisions and direction. While this may provide temporary certainty, it often leads to feelings of inner conflict and a lack of fulfillment. This model assumes that there is a single “correct” answer to every problem, which ignores the nuance and complexity of real-life situations.

Learning to think skeptically (curios) and holistically is vital for navigating the challenges of life and making decisions that align with your true self. To do this, you must engage not just your logical mind but also your emotions and intuition. This combination is what we call holographic thinking.

What Is Holographic Thinking?

Holographic thinking is an IPEC integrative approach that blends logic, emotion, and intuition to form a complete picture when making decisions. Each of these aspects provides unique insights that, when combined, enable us to make well-rounded, conscious choices. Let’s break down these three elements:

  1. Logic – Our rational mind plays a crucial role in decision-making. Logic helps us analyze facts, weigh pros and cons, and come up with practical solutions. It’s the part of us that asks, “Does this make sense?” While logic is important, relying solely on it can leave out the emotional and intuitive aspects of a situation, which are equally critical.
  2. Emotion – Emotions act as our internal compass, revealing what truly matters to us. They help us tap into our values and priorities, signaling whether a decision aligns with our deeper desires. Emotion also gives us the energy and motivation to pursue what feels right, but it must be balanced to avoid impulsive choices driven by fleeting feelings.
  3. Intuition – Intuition is often seen as a “gut feeling” or an inner knowing that transcends logic or emotion. It taps into a deeper, often subconscious, level of understanding. Intuition helps us see connections that logic might overlook and sense possibilities that aren’t immediately apparent. However, it must be tuned and trusted, which takes practice.

When you integrate these three aspects, you create a holographic way of thinking, allowing you to consider every dimension of a decision. This fuller perspective supports the making of conscious choices—decisions that are not only aligned with your values but also with the situation’s reality and your internal guidance.

The Importance of Holographic Thinking in Making Conscious Choices

Conscious choices are decisions made with awareness, intentionality, and alignment with your highest self. They require stepping back from societal expectations and automatic thinking patterns to actively engage your logic, emotions, and intuition.

  1. Avoiding Impulsivity and Reactivity – By using holographic thinking, you ensure that your choices are not driven solely by knee-jerk reactions or fleeting emotions. Instead, you pause to analyze the facts, reflect on your emotional state, energy level, and check in with your intuition, leading to more balanced and thoughtful decisions.
  2. Aligning with Your True Self – Holographic thinking allows you to move beyond conditioned thinking patterns. Instead of following the crowd or responding based on fear or external pressure, you can choose actions that reflect your inner values and desires. This alignment leads to more authentic living.
  3. Enhancing Relationships – In relationships, holographic thinking helps you understand others more deeply. By considering their logical concerns, emotional needs, and intuitive signals, you can communicate more effectively and create deeper connections. This holistic understanding reduces misunderstandings and promotes healthier interactions.
  4. Creating Resilience – When faced with uncertainty or challenging situations, holographic thinking provides a stable framework. Instead of being overwhelmed by emotions or frozen by over-analysis, you can trust that integrating all three aspects of your being will lead you to the right choice for that moment.

How to Develop Holographic Thinking

  1. Pause Before You Decide – Taking a moment to pause before making a decision allows you to access all three aspects of holographic thinking. Reflect on the logical aspects: What facts do I know? Then ask, how do I feel about this? Finally, tune into your intuition: What is my gut telling me?
  2. Practice Mindfulness – Mindfulness practices help you become more aware of your thoughts, feelings, and inner knowing. This awareness is essential for recognizing when you are stuck in one mode of thinking and need to bring in other perspectives.
  3. Ask Open-Ended Questions – When you find yourself relying too heavily on logic or emotion, ask questions that encourage a broader perspective. For example, “What am I not seeing here?” or “How would I approach this if I trusted my intuition?”
  4. Trust Your Inner Wisdom – It can be challenging to trust intuition, especially if you’ve been
conditioned to rely solely on logic. Start by testing your intuitive insights in small, low-stakes
situations and build confidence in your inner knowing.

Holographic thinking is a powerful tool for those seeking to live more consciously. By integrating logic, emotion, and intuition, you can break free from conditioned responses and make choices that reflect your true self. This is not only empowering but also leads to more fulfilling relationships, greater resilience, and a sense of alignment with your life’s purpose.

In a world that often teaches us what to think, holographic thinking offers a path to discovering how to think—enabling you to make conscious choices that shape a more authentic and empowered life.
